Destination Weddings in Formentera
Formentera, just a forty minute boat journey from Ibiza town (Eivissa), is the smallest of the Balearic Islands and one where the emphasis is on relaxing rather than all-night partying or visiting the sights. Getting married in Spain you may not want the noise and energy of urban life, but rather the chance to dedicate all your time to relaxing on beautiful beaches, eating at small beachside restaurants and admiring your new wife or husband. Such a lover’s paradise, come and enjoy your destination wedding in Formentera.
Around the entire coast there are remote coves where you and your partner can pass each day on a steady regime of relaxation on the white sands and refreshing dips in the crystal clear waters of the Med. By bicycle (hired on arrival in the main settlement, Sabina) you can follow the old dirt track roads that criss-cross the island and get to a new beach each day. The cycling itself is part of the fun, part of the easy rhythm of life.
Formentera featured in the widely released Spanish movie “Sex and Lucia”. If you haven’t already seen it then rent the DVD. Besides the beautiful countryside the movie also features the lighthouse on the Cabo de Berberia and its fascinating cave that opens out at the top of a cliff looking south toward Africa; what better a spot to get married in Formentera? The lighthouse like everywhere else can be reached by bicycle which would make a fun activity for guests visiting the island. On the opposite end of the island there is another lighthouse, Faro de la Mola, on an impressive cliff that is alive with plants and birds.
In the evenings you might choose to stay in whitewashed self-catering chalet for example or on the other hand there are intimate restaurants that are only too happy to provide an appropriate setting for your wedding reception in this Balearic Island.
